Storytelling to Strengthen Your Business – Tips and Reflections

I have had the honor of working with companies in various industries, from medtech and diagnostics to crypto, book publishing and gaming technology. During these collaborations, I have realized how important storytelling is in highlighting the core of companies on social media. It is not just about describing products or services, but about creating a story that engages and builds relationships.

One thing that has become clear to me is that storytelling is about making companies human. A company can have the best product in the world, but if it doesn’t connect with people on a personal level, it’s hard to get noticed on social media.

I’ve also noticed how valuable it is to build content around the problems or challenges that the target audience faces, rather than focusing on the company’s successes. When the stories reflect the reality of the target audience, the content becomes much more engaging.

My tips for improving storytelling on social media

  1. Make it personal
Show the people behind the company or the customers the company has helped. Personal stories make the posts feel authentic and relatable.
  2. Clear focus on value
Always think about what value the story provides. Tell us how your company solves a problem, makes everyday life easier, or adds something unique.
  3. Authenticity is key
When companies dare to show their challenges and lessons learned, communication takes on a deeper dimension. No journey is perfect, and showing that makes the story stronger.
  4. Strengthen the story with images or video
Visual elements enhance the impact of the story. It can be anything from a simple image that reflects the company's culture to a short video that shows how a product is used in real life.
  5. Interaction through closing questions
Closing with a question or reflection is a great way to create dialogue. A simple "What do you think?" or "How would you solve this?" can get more people involved.

My Reflection

Storytelling is an art, but also a journey where you learn by trying and adapting. The companies I have had the opportunity to work with – in electric car charging, cancer treatment, lung diagnostics and more – have shown me how different stories can be built from their core values. Regardless of the industry, a strong story can create a clear connection with people, and that is where the strength for success lies.
